Eglise du Sacré-Coeur à Audincourt

Erected after the Second World War, between 1949 and 1951, in the « Autos » quarter in Audincourt, thanks to a learned association of parishioners, volunteers from the church and inspired artists, the church of the Sacré Coeur is a jewel of light. Fernand Léger, the remarkable 20th century artist, turned this church into an unmissable monument
to Sacred Art. He created 17 stained glass windows and the tapestries behind the high altar. The different stages of the passion of Christ are depicted with much symbolism for the faithful and visitors alike. The stained-glass windows in the crypt were made by Le Moal, those from the baptistery were created by Jean Bazaine. The latter also made the abstract and coloured mosaic which decorates the main façade
