Exhibition "The origins of the museum: Claude Royer (1941-2018), ethnologist and co-founder of the Musée de la Vigne et du Vin du Jura. Through his archives donated to the Jura Departmental Archives."

An exhibition by the Jura Departmental Archives (presented in Montmorot on the occasion of the classification of Claude Royer's scientific archives as part of their holdings).

30 years after moving to the Château-Pécauld (after 23 years in the cellars of the Hôtel de Ville), the Musée de la vigne et du vin du Jura is joining forces with the Archives départementales du Jura to pay tribute to Claude Royer (1941-2018), ethnologist and co-founder of the museum.

Through 32 documents, the exhibition, designed by the Archives départementales du Jura, retraces Claude Royer's career as a researcher in ethnology, a specialist in rural architecture, a historian of the Comtois vineyards and grape varieties, and a promoter of the conservation of Comtois and Arbois rural techniques and cultures. Finally, his role in founding the Musée de la Vigne et du Vin du Jura, which was set up in 1993 in the Château-Pécauld, recently restored by the town of Arbois, will be presented.
