The Perroud Bridge

From Prémanon centre (near the bus shelter), follow the yellow signs to Chez Jeankessis. Follow the tarmac road for 200m, then leave it to take the stone path on the left which goes down.

Twice, cross a tarmac road and go straight on to follow the stone path.

The route joins a tarmac road again, follow it for a few metres and leave it at the bend to take the stone track on the left. Pass the crossroads at Chez Jeankessis and continue straight ahead.

Pass the crossroads Sur le Belvédère, the path goes down to the RD25. Go along it on the right and then cross it with the utmost caution. Go up to the Belvédère des Maquisards and admire the view of the upper Bienne valley, the Mont Fier and the Risoux massif. Cross the road again to retrace your steps. At the Belvedere, take the path on the left towards the Pont Perroud.

The route descends to the Pont Perroud, which was renovated by the Communauté de communes de la Station des Rousses in 2009. This bridge was used to link the parishes of Les Rousses and Prémanon. Cross the Bief de la Chaille river, the ascent through the undergrowth is a little steep but particularly pleasant.

At the Bonzon, follow the white/red markings to the right towards Sous le Saut then the Passerelle.

At the Passerelle, it is possible to make a quick round trip to the Cascade du Bief de la Chaille (400m from the right). This waterfall is a tuffière, where the rock is formed by the deposit of limestone contained in the water on the plants present (mosses, algae). Retrace your steps and cross the river again by the Passerelle in the direction of Prémanon. The path goes up, takes a forest path and then leads to the tarmac road. At Prémanon d'Amont, follow the direction of Prémanon to go up to the centre of the village. On the road, turn around to see the Fort des Rousses on the opposite side.
