The bee-eater trail in the Chaux forest

-

In the Chaux forest, while walking along the botanical and ethnological trail, you will be introduced to the secrets of the charcoal cutters who once inhabited the "never-ending forest".

You start from the car park at the edge of the forest. Next to it on the left is the Virgin Oak; the "baccu" is 200 m to the left on the forest road.

Take the path in the undergrowth that runs alongside the white path.

Turn left, pass the Mistletoe oak and continue until you reach a forest line. Turn left then right.

At the crossroads, turn left and go down the hill to reach the observatory.

Retrace your steps, turn left onto a path in the undergrowth which leads to a stony summit. Take it on the left for 50 m, then turn right towards the Jourmaine fountain. After leaving the Jourmaine, cross a wooden bridge and, after 100 m, turn right to the feudal mound.

Take the path on the left and climb the slope for about 200 m. Follow the path to the right, which is hilly at this point, for about 700 m to reach the forest road, opposite the Saint-Thibaut oratory.

Follow the forest road to the left for 200 m to reach the Chêne des Filles.

Retrace your steps for 100 m and take the forest road on the left then turn right. Pass in front of the charcoal kiln and continue to the bread oven.

Retrace your steps and turn left onto the white track towards Our for about 300 m. Take the path on the right and follow it to the forest road. Turn right then left. Find the path from the outset and follow it in the opposite direction to the starting point.
