Village de Villebois

From the monolith square, a heritage route invites you to follow in the footsteps of the quarrymen and the history of the village. Beautiful explanatory markers will help you to discover the secrets of its key places: the monolith, the church, the town hall, the wash house, the hamlet and the fortified house of Bouis, the Octave plateau and the millstone quarries.

The Villebois quarries are classified as a sensitive natural area. A pleasant walk takes you past the old millstone quarry, an abandoned forge, natural areas for resting or observing the wild flora (saponnière, lichens, etc.) and fauna. The Octave plateau still bears the traces of the carts transporting the stone from Villebois to the Rhône.
