Potholding & fondue, or how to share moments of togetherness around a fondue... in the depths of the earth! With your adventurous family or friends, plunge below the surface in the company of a potholing guide and enjoy a meal with a difference, Comté fondue in the light of your head torches, all in a decor straight out of Jules Verne's "Journey to the Centre of the Earth".

Anecdote

An experience inspired by a friendly bet

When it comes to crazy ideas, this is right up there with raclette in the middle of summer! As the name suggests, "Potholing & fondue" is an underground fondue party.

Well, this rather mad idea emerged here in the Jura Mountains following a challenge between friends which involved eating fondue in the most unlikely places.

Potholing & fondue proceedings

In concrete terms, what can you expect to happen? It's difficult to imagine using a fondue pot and long forks in a dark cave…

The concept is actually quite simple. With a helmet, head torch and wetsuit, you're ready to enter one of the region's many underground gems. Experienced potholers will also need a harness to abseil down into the cave.

You are of course accompanied by a potholing guide, who carries all the supplies. But first you'll go exploring the underground world around you.

At the end of the trail comes the moment you've all been waiting for, a delicious meal of Comté fondue under the light of your head torches in this mineral world beyond time. Simply fabulous...
