In the heart of the Jura Mountains, on the border between the Jura and the Doubs, lies the small village of Mouthe.
To come to the Val de Mouthe is to discover Scandinavian landscapes, with a succession of small villages bordered by high altitude forests, snow-covered mountain pastures and frozen lakes. At the bend in the road, you may catch a glimpse of the sled dog teams in training.
And if the name rings a bell, it's no wonder: this is where the legendary Transjurassienne cross-country ski race (skating and classic) traditionally takes place, linking Lamoura in the Jura to Mouthe.
From Mouthe, the pistes start at Chez Liadet, an institution of winter tourism in the Val de Mouthe. There are a wide range of slopes for skiers, from the play area, ideal for learning to ski with the family, to the legendary "Fabrice Guy" slope, named after the famous cross-country skiing champion.
Chez Liadet - Mouthe: 1km floodlit piste, open daily until 10pm; activated by a switch near the groomer garage.
Fun garden, toboggan runs with buoys available.
GTJ ski: Mouthe - Chapelle des Bois 23.5 km
