There are 2 different approaches to cycling. Conventional cyclists will enjoy pedalling along the cycle paths set aside especially for them. Others, more adventurous at heart, won't hesitate to go exploring into the depths of nature.

Whatever your preference (not that you have to choose!), the Jura Mountains have just the cycling terrain for you.

The only difficulty is choosing

2,000km of cycling itineraries

To you, cycling is a fun activity to enjoy at the weekend with the family, your friends or other members of your cycling club.

Well, bear in mind that the Jura Mountains boast no less than 130km of tarmac paths devoted entirely to cyclists (no cars or mopeds!)... Not to mention some 2,000km of waymarked cycling itineraries (but shared with other users).

The most courageous may want to tackle the famous climb up the Planche des Belles-Filles. Beware, it's no coincidence that this section features regularly in the Tour de France cycle race!

For the others, the EuroVélo6 remains THE must-do for a tranquil ride in the safety of a dedicated cycle path that's ideal for families and reassuring for parents.

Unleash the adventurer in you

Mountain biking in all its forms

Or maybe you're an adrenalin seeker who enjoys going "off the beaten track" and gets that sense of freedom just from straddling a mountain bike.

You don't have to be completely dauntless to go off on an adventure, on a revitalising inner journey... (let's not forget that helmets are compulsory!) and the Jura Mountains have some very convincing arguments!

After all, Mountains suggest long descents (and long climbs too of course), enough to keep you entertained on the trails that wind through the region's typical conifer forests.

And if you want a sense of security while exploring the natural surroundings, there are plenty of outlets proposing guided excursions or, better still, obstacle courses to suit all mountain-biking levels.

And for the ultimate MTB experience, try a mountain E-bike! It can take you anywhere your traditional mountain bike would, but without the blood, sweat and tears!
