Autumn is the season when the Jura Mountains look more than ever like Canada. Between lakes and waterfalls, we're spoilt for choice, but the scenery is stunningly beautiful wherever you look. Besides the landscapes, the autumn also comes with a whole host of activities.

So are you ready to pack your bags for the Indian summer experience in the Jura Mountains?

THE INDIAN SUMMER EXPERIENCE

The Jura Mountains are often likened to Canada and autumn is the time of year when the resemblance is most striking. This open wilderness is at its most beautiful, enhanced by a sublime play of light and fiery colours.

Autumn is the perfect time of year to make the most of the different landscapes by taking the time to explore at your own pace.

From the lakes region to the most beautiful waterfalls and from the vineyards to the vast stretches of the Retord Plateau, you won't be disappointed by your hedonistic getaway.

Lake fans

Everything looks even more beautiful in autumn, and the lakes are no exception. Adorned in shimmering colours, they play with the light and match the hues of the Jura forests.

To make the most of the scenery, our advice is to walk up to the panoramic viewpoints and admire the spectacle of Little Canada from above.

Waterfall fans

In autumn, the waterfalls emerge from their summertime slumber to become impressive raging torrents.

They'll carry you off to a world of enchantment where the unspoilt wilderness delivers her best performance. No doubt about it, you'll love this scenery!

Focus on Lake Saint-Point

Autumn has to be the best time of year to fully appreciate this vast mirror perched 900 metres above sea level. The summer crowds have gone, leaving peace and tranquillity on the banks of the lake as swans, moorhens and coots retake possession of the site. Now is the time for meditation, short walks or long hikes at the lakeside.

Activities to appreciate autumn

Slip on your boots or hiking shoes! The time has come to jump about in the fallen leaves, tackle the climb to the summits of Jura before the snow arrives, and discover our mysterious chateaux and castles shrouded in mist. If you fear the cold, you might prefer visiting one of the craft workshops. But first you'll have to pick one: wood, comté cheese, spectacles... there's no shortage of craftsmanship here!
