The ski resorts, the Valserine valley, the Monts-Jura, the Dôle, the Lamoura lake... The heart of the Haut-Jura beats all along this route which goes around the Massacre forest.
Close to the Mont Fier (1,292m) Prémanon, one of the four villages that make up the resort of Les Rousses, offers a beautiful panoramic view of the combes that follow one another on the horizon. The road then continues for 8km with the Darbella and Serra resorts to reach the lake of Lamoura where each winter the fans of the Transjurassienne race for a cross-country ski race unique in France. In this valley, the lake and the peat bog are surrounded by the Massacre forest, which takes its name from the 600 mercenaries of François 1° killed by the Savoyards in the 16th century. Once through, this forest of fir trees - the highest in Franche-Comté - leads to the village of Lajoux with a striking view of the Jura Mountains. Here you will find the Maison du Parc Naturel Régional du Haut-Jura. The road then twists and turns down to the resort of Mijoux, at the bottom of the Valserine valley, and climbs the Combe d'en Haut for 9km to Tabagnoz, following the Valserine. The continuation to La Cure, a small border village, follows the border with Switzerland at the foot of the Dôle massif at an altitude of 1,677m, then arrives at the Jouvencelles resort and returns to Prémanon.
