The Combe du Grandvaux

The landscape and soul of Grandvaux are revealed along this emblematic route: forest valleys, meadows and pastures and the church on the lake shore.

Parking :
Behind the tourist office, Place Simone Veil in Saint-Laurent en Grandvaux.

From ST-LAURENT CENTRE, go up through the village (blue MTB marker n° 98) to the roundabout to find ST-LAURENT-LE-CRET (parking).

Enter the pasture and turn immediately right to reach the crossroads Le Camping. Continue along the grassy path on the left, then along a white track to Les Maisonnettes.
Fork right and reach the railway line by passing under a railway tunnel. Continue through the pastures to reach Aux Pierres then En Fouradon.
Turn right onto the white track and, from Les Essards, go up the track to the right to reach Les Jeannez.
Take the white track which bends to the left. Go up into the forest at Fusil Simple. Cross two clearings by grassy and earthy paths to arrive at Plan de Lajoux.
Take a forest track to La Terrailla, turn right onto a small tarmac road and join the D 437 road which you follow to the left to reach the ABBAYE EN GRANDVAUX.
Continue on the D 437 and at the end of the hamlet, take the tarmac road towards the lake. Go around the Abbaye lake from the south and cross the hamlet until you reach LES BEZ.
Take a small tarmac road on the left through the pastures to Joux Derrière.
Take the grassy path on the right and reach En Demourey.
Turn left and follow the white track, then the path on the right which leads to LES BOUVETS D'AMONT.
After 600 m on the D 330 road to the right, which goes down in a hairpin bend, do not miss the white path which goes up to the left in the pastures, to reach the Croix de Pierre. Follow this path to Les Grands Champs, then turn right onto a grassy path.
At the white track, turn right and reach Les Gayolles. Continue on the track and fork left on a sloping grassy path to cross the hamlet and then carefully cross the D 437. Reach the crossroads at LES PONCETS.
Follow the path to the left to reach Salave de Vent.
Turn almost immediately right when you reach St-Laurent-en-Grandvaux and follow the road to reach the Chemin de l'Oeuf. Return to your starting point in the centre of the village via ST LAURENT - GARE.

Recommendations:
Be careful when crossing roads at Abbaye-en-Grandvaux, Les Bez and Les Poncets.
For a mountain bike outing, wear a helmet and carry enough water. The paths are shared with pedestrians and horse riders, who have priority, so it is advisable to adapt and control your speed.
You will cross many mountain bike crossings, so don't hesitate to get off the bike.
This route crosses pastures and forest roads. Also for the respect of the owners, for the tranquillity of the cattle and the wild fauna, you are invited to remain on the marked paths.
Wild flowers are beautiful, they can be rare and protected and often wither quickly. Do not pick them! They will delight the next admirers.
In the event of forestry work (felling, skidding, etc.), for your own safety, know when to give up and turn back.
