The Bresse Jurassienne Way

-

ATTENTION, on the Voie de la Bresse Jurassienne the section between Molay and Chaussin will be closed for repair work from 4 March to 7 April inclusive. A diversion will be set up in both directions via the RD 469, the RD 332 and the Rue de Champdivers / Rue de la Croix Bleue.

Currently being built by the Jura Departmental Council, the Voie de la Bresse Jurassienne will link the two main Jura towns of Lons-le-Saunier and Dole by joining EuroVelo 6 and the Voie Bressane. This 53-kilometre cycle route follows a former railway line through the Bresse Jurassienne and the Plaine du Finage. 4 sections of the Voie de la Bresse Jurassienne are already in service:

Between EuroVelo 6 at Damparis and Chaussin (10.6 km), linking EuroVelo 6 at Damparis and Chaussin via the lower Doubs valley. This part of the Voie de la Bresse Jurassienne is unique in that it passes within a stone's throw of the Ile du Girard nature reserve, where the Doubs and Loue rivers meet, and which is particularly well known for its well-preserved flora and fauna and for birdwatching. In addition to this nature reserve, the route crosses part of the Finage agricultural plain, a flat, treeless region of brown and grey alluvial soil, particularly suited to cereal farming.

The 4.3km stretch between Gatey and Pleure is a real link between the Finage plain and the Bresse ponds, connecting the two villages. Some of this section around Gatey has been awarded the Tourisme et Handicap label (3 disabilities: mental, hearing and motor).

Between Chaumergy and Villevieux is a 13.8 km stretch in the heart of the Bresse Jurassienne, dotted with ponds and wetlands with incredible flora and fauna. This section also takes you to the Bresse Haute Seille leisure area, and in particular the Desnes bathing area. This shady, gentle section of the Voie de la Bresse Jurassienne is as bucolic as you could wish, and has also been awarded the Tourisme et Handicap label (3 disabilities: mental, hearing and motor) between Chaumergy and the crossing of the D1.

The 3.5 km walk between Larnaud (Grange Bedey) and Courlans crosses the ponds and forests between Courlans and Saint-Didier. It crosses the D678 over an old railway bridge before reaching Courlans, its cycle relay and above all the Voie Bressane linking Lons-le-Saunier and Chalon-sur-Saône.

Between Courlans and Lons-le-Saunier on the Voie Bressane.
From Courlans, you can link Lons-le-Saunier or Louhans and Chalon-sur-Saône via the Voie Bressane, which has been in operation for several years.

Work is continuing on the Voie de la Bresse Jurassienne to complete this link between the Jura's 2 main towns.
