The Bief de la Chaille tour

-

From the resort of Les Rousses at an altitude of 1,200 metres, this circuit takes small forest paths to reach the Bief de la Chaille waterfall. The route then crosses the combe, a typical Haut-Jura landscape, before reaching the Swiss border at the foot of the ski slopes in the village of La Cure. Opposite, the Dôle (1,677 metres) offers, in good weather, a breathtaking view of Lake Geneva and the Alps. The route then returns to the "Route Royale" which overlooks the village of Les Rousses to the west, the Orbe valley and the Risoux mountains and the Noirmont massif to the east.
On arrival, a visit to the fort of Les Rousses, the 2nd largest fort in France, is a must. Once a renowned military fort, used until 1997 for commando training, it now houses the Comté cheese maturing cellars.
