Lake Chalain is the largest natural lake in the Jura, but also one of the most remarkable with its 50-metre-high cliffs overlooking its turquoise waters. Apart from the climb to the Fontenu lookout, there are no real difficulties on this very easy and shady circuit. It describes a wide loop around the lake of Chalain, revealing its presence here and there, thanks to beautiful glimpses through the woods. A few villages: Fontenu, Marigny, Doucier break the quietness of the forest passages.
On the way back, a cool break is essential on one of the three supervised beaches of the lake. And for those with a sweet tooth, a visit to the Hérisson Valley dairy, renowned for its excellent Comté cheese.
