The Pertes de l'Ain route may be short and easy, but there are plenty of points of interest, including superb scenery and interesting sights. Departing from Champagnole, the route passes through Sapois, Sirod, Bourg-de-Sirod and Syam. It mainly takes in forest tracks and meadows.
Accessible to all, this beautiful outing is short, but it allows you to enjoy some superb scenery, in particular the Syam plain and the Pertes de l'Ain, a chaos of rocks forming a narrow corridor where the tumultuous course of the Ain flows.
Along the way, you'll find a host of interesting sights: Palladian villa, Syam forges, castle ruins, castral chapel, Bourg-de-Sirod forges, old train tunnel, etc.
There are no major difficulties, apart from a short, slightly technical climb after Sirod.
