EuroVelo 6 in the Jura

-

ATTENTION: From 8 April to 3 May 2024, the EuroVelo 6 route will be diverted between Orchamps and Ranchot via the departmental roads (RD224, RD76 and RD31) due to geotechnical surveys. Please follow the diversion on the ground.

EuroVelo 6 is one of 14 itineraries in the EuroVelo network. This safe route covers more than 3,600 km in 10 countries and follows 3 of Europe's greatest rivers: The Loire, the Rhine and the Danube. In the Jura, this cycle route crosses the Dole region along the old towpaths along the Doubs between Chalon-sur-Saône and Besançon.
On the 42 km of the Jura section, you'll cycle along a totally safe, scenic route through the Doubs valley, dotted with a host of pretty, typical riverside villages. Don't hesitate to stop off in Dole, a Town of Art and History, to visit the many cultural sites, or simply stroll through the narrow streets or on the terraces along the Canal des Tanneurs.
The more curious can take the Voie des Saline (Saltworks Trail) through the Chaux forest at Ranchot. It leads to the spectacular Saline Royale d'Arc et Senans and the impressive Grande Saline de Salins-les-Bains, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
