Tour of the Dole region by mountain bike

This long circuit around Dole takes the mountain biker on a journey of discovery through the heritage and beautiful countryside. They can also be discovered in several shorter circuits.

The Tour du Pays de Dole starts from the Lahr footbridge towards the Parc de la Sauline. Open to all, this park, which is suitable for leisure activities, is home to the Azans discovery trail, a wildlife park and a bird observatory.

Next, head for La 2ème colonne. The Forêt de Chaux, one of the largest deciduous forests in France, has eight of them. It offers the opportunity to discover forest habitats and wetlands. You can observe birds and the tracks and footprints left by animals.

Archelange is worth a stop. The village is famous for its Saint Marcoul fountain. It is reputed to be miraculous, but has a rare geological feature: the water disappears a few metres after the washhouse. Gredisans is located on the edge of the Serre forest. This forest is home to several crosses pattées, including the most remarkable, the Croix Boyon.

At the ruisseau des Vaux, you can see the base of a wall that marks the site of an old grain mill. Another remarkable place, the panorama of La Charme, a wide open view on the old basin of the Bresse sea, which allows to admire the first ranges of the Jura like the Mont Poupet.

Menotey and Jouhe are then crossed before returning via the sanctuary of Mont Roland, Foucherans and Choisey.
