Bachar Mar-Khalifé
Music without borders After a two-year interlude, French-Lebanese musician and composer Bachar Mar-Khalifé has unexpectedly released a mini-album called Postludes. Like a return to basics, in solo piano-voice format, the artist brings together six Chopin Preludes, a cover of Nirvana (Something in the Way) and Christophe (Les Paradis Perdus), as well as the song Sawfa Nabqa Houna, which has become a symbol of the resilience of the population in Gaza, and of his battered native Lebanon. For this concert in Bourg-en-Bresse, the program will be extended to include Bachar's own compositions. Born in Beirut, Bachar Mar Khalifé grew up amidst Lebanon's political upheavals and a dual Western and Eastern musical culture. His compositions echo this, addressing themes of war, exile and melancholy, but also hope and a certain beauty of the world. From an early age, he learned to reinvent his musical heritage with a rare sensitivity. His unclassifiable compositions blend jazz, electro, classical and traditional Lebanese music. Let yourself be enchanted by his gentle voice and moving melodies! In partnership with La Tannerie
