Dam Dam

-

After L'Appel Sauvage, a free adaptation of a Jack London novel in shadow theatre, the Jura-based collective Projet D has taken up the subject of water and the iron and concrete buildings that stand in its way. It's an idea that originated on the shores of Lake Vouglans. On a large castelet, each imposing puppet - inspired by the Japanese Buranku - comes to life under three pairs of hands. The puppet is a teenager visiting her father on the shore of an artificial lake, or a fisherman, an early activist who fought in vain against the construction of the reservoir. Humans are joined by animals, tits and fish, brilliantly soundtracked by a live musician combining electro and percussion. Without ever being moralistic, anchored locally while subtly addressing the collapse of all living things, this fable opens the floodgates to a formidable "imaginary-conscious".
