In 1945, Black Boy was the first published novel written by a black man, Richard Wright, about his childhood and adolescence in the American South. Confronted with injustice, humiliation and violence, his character manages to free himself from these shackles through reading and writing. It's a deeply moving story that hasn't aged a day, and its adaptation is brought to you by three outstanding artists in perfect symbiosis. Singer and guitarist Olivier Gotti, a key figure in French blues, Benjamin Flao, the "pencil man" and author of numerous notebooks and comic strips, and concert-reading specialist, director and actor Jérôme Imard. A key scenographic element of the show is the screen showing the sketches Flao composes live, sometimes improvising as the mood takes him, echoing the inflections of the text or the vibrations of the music. A magnificent artistic dialogue that raises the voice of the fight for equality.
