Presentation of the speaker :
Alexis Carron, 28, lives in the Alps.
I've been fascinated by animals and the natural world around us ever since I was a child, and I decided to turn this passion into a career. After several years at university in Montpellier, I obtained a Bachelor's degree and a Master's in Engineering in Ecology and Biodiversity Management. Alongside my professional life, I've been involved as a volunteer with various environmental associations and heard about scientific missions on the other side of the planet.
In 2019, I have been recruited as an ornithologist-biologist to spend 14 months in Antarctica on the French Dumont d'Urville scientific station. As part of a programme to study the impact of global warming, I will be studying the different populations of several bird species, including the incredible emperor penguin, as well as a mammal species: the Weddell seal. It was an unforgettable scientific and human adventure, which led me to write my first self-published book, Créatures et paysages de la Terre Adélie. It compiles my best photographs, anecdotes and stories about the animals and the magnificent polar environment that is Adelie Land. The book will be accompanied by art prints, polar equipment, magnets and other surprises for total immersion!
