Conference - Breast cancer in art and history

-

Organised by the Friends of the Museum. In partnership with the Open University.
By Muriel and Philippe MERCET, art lovers.
In a richly illustrated tour, the speakers will take us through some of the stages in the treatment of breast cancer over the centuries, and show us, through different forms of artistic expression, the extent to which the illness of famous women, or women who deserved to be famous, interacted with their work, sometimes modulating it, sometimes completely revitalising it. Find out how breast cancer has affected the paintings of Raphaël, the literature of Annie Ernaux, the sculpture of Germaine Richier, the music of Lasa, and the history of Anne of Austria.
