Organised by the Friends of the Museum.
By Michel MAGNY, palaeoclimatologist, and Hervé RICHARD, palaeoenvironmentalist, emeritus directors of research at the CNRS, Chronoenvironnement laboratory, Besançon.
Global warming is the main problem facing humanity in the 21st century. M. Magny and H. Richard have brought together around fifty contributors to write a book (Histoire du climat dans les montagnes du Jura), which tackles this issue by focusing on the Jura Mountains. This resolutely cross-border and interdisciplinary group of authors brings together ecologists, naturalists, geologists, climatologists, historians, prehistorians, as well as professionals from the economic world, managers, journalists and elected politicians. Their contributions are based on extensive research into the ecosystems of the Jura mountains, their history and their current state. The conference will present the highlights of this confrontation between researchers and economic and political players on a highly topical and worrying subject.
