There are more micro-organisms per m² of soil than people on earth, and up to 70% of the biomass of ecosystems is in the soil. Yet this little-known, even unjustly combated biodiversity is the foundation of our natural environments and therefore of our food supply. This is particularly true of the close links that have been forged between plants and the world of fungi.
