Conferences: "In the heart of trees
Trees play an important role in our region. As the driving force behind biodiversity and a key player in the balance of ecosystems, trees are a precious ally for mankind. The month of April will be devoted to trees through a number of events.
APERITIF-CONFERENCE
SATURDAY 5 APRIL I 10.30 AM
At a time of climate change and the transitions essential to the survival of future generations, forests and oceans must be able to regain their place, their primitive role in the ecosystem and in the great balances of our planet. The forest, the sponge that regulates water, oxygen and carbon, the last refuge of a biodiversity that is essential to life and to our survival, is at the heart of the debate today. What exactly is a forest? In what condition is it in France today? How can we reconcile production, timber exploitation, preservation of water, environments and endangered species, with welcoming an ever-growing and increasingly demanding public? By Alice Zimmermann, trainer in forestry science and techniques. For the general public aged 12 and over
"AT THE FOOT OF THE TREE
SATURDAY 5 APRIL I 3PM
Storytelling show by Marcel Djondo (storyteller) and Denis Trutt (musician) from the Compagnie Gakokoé. For nomadic people, trees were first and foremost a source of food and shelter from the vagaries of the climate. Now that they have become sedentary, humans have reduced the tree to a useful material. These tales of diverse origins present the tree in different guises - bearer of magic, nurturer, benefactor, protector - and make it the central character in each story, in its original form or even reduced to ashes. Confronted by man - or his avatar - the tree will transform their lives forever. Suitable for all ages from 5 upwards

"THE MAN WHO PLANTED TREES" BASED ON THE NOVEL BY JEAN GIONO
SATURDAY 5 APRIL I 6PM
By Marcel Djondo (storyteller) and Denis Trutt (musician) from Compagnie Gakokoé. "When we remembered that everything had come out of the hands and soul of this man, we understood that men could be just as effective in many other fields than destruction". At a time when the great primary forests are disappearing exponentially, this parable, written by Jean Giono in 1953, is a poetic illustration of the notion of sustainable development. It's a show designed to make you dream, think and (re)inspire a taste for reading. A show for all ages from 8 upwards.
