Following its film adaptation, Ma vie de Courgette (My Life as a Courgette), which won two Césars in 2017 and was nominated for an Oscar, the celebrated novel now takes the form of a play infused with the energy of music. Icare, known to everyone as Courgette, is a ray of sunshine that brightens the cloudy skies of the Les Fontaines hostel, home to Simon, Ahmed and Camille, as well as Raymond, a policeman and surrogate father who, thanks to Courgette, gets a new lease on life. Where does Courgette get her strength from? Well, life hasn't spared him: an alcoholic mother and a gun that went off all by itself on a very bad day. At home, his life blossoms through the many bonds he forges to keep him from sinking. Courgette is a magnificent ode to resilience, friendship and hope, with a virtuoso performance supported by the plucking of strings and the thunder of drums, and a mix of laughter and tears.
