Frozen documentary "Vagabond, cinq ans pour la banquise" (Vagabond, five years for the ice pack)
Eric Brossier and France Pinczon du Sel have been travelling together since 1999. It's well known that they were responsible for the first complete circumnavigation of the Arctic over two consecutive summers (2002-2003). First came the North-East Passage, when Vagabond sailed from Brittany to Japan, skirting the Eurasian continent to the north, followed by the North-West Passage, from Japan to Brittany, skirting America via the Canadian high Arctic.
In 2004, they settled in Spitsbergen for 1 or 2 years, for an Arctic oceanography programme. They stayed there for 5 years, studying the pack ice and the polar climate (Damocles programme), with their little daughter Léonie, who was almost born on the pack ice.
Documentary followed by "Vagabond and Belcher Hell", when the polar sailing vessel Vagabond almost sank in the ice near Devon Island, Nunavut, in August 2022... while 3 polar bears visited the crew.
