Exposition fantaisies pour un palais

With its theatrical decor, the Centre des Monuments Nationaux's “Fantaisies pour un Palais” exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the imaginary world of fairy tales and fantasy. Travel around six stages imagined from the settings of these fairy tales: discover the “fairy cabinet” of porcelain, gallant couples, golden carriages or swan-drawn chariots... Your second stop will be the “Magic Palace”, reproducing a “marvelous grotto” such as those designed during the Renaissance for gardens, which became a recurrent element of palace decoration with the Rococo period. Nymphs, mermaids and fairies are just some of the fantastical creatures that populate these dreamlike spaces. Then stroll through the “fairy bosquet”, where flowers play on mirrors to create the illusion of a floating garden. Gilding and reflections are not forgotten in the “salon of mirrors”, where costumed figures, as if escaped from Watteau and the “Fêtes galantes”, can be seen. Finally, the journey ends on the shores of “l'île enchantée”, before continuing with an enchanted stroll through the château's park and garden.
