I start with photos of woods, bugs, water, rocks or ice that I take on my walks. I then "examine" these photos, turning them into black and white, accentuating the contrasts to see if "they tell me something", in other words if the image evokes something other than the original photo. If so, the patient work of removing anything that might distract from the essential begins.
