Exposition Montigny

-

A loyal visitor to Bourg-en-Bresse, the portraitist to the Stars is delighted to return to present his new pastels in the town where he has been exhibiting since 1986. Portraits, landscapes, scenes of life... richly colored, bathed in light. The artist takes a tender look at the world. In 1970, a teacher in Beynost hung a Van Gogh reproduction on her classroom wall. It was an insignificant gesture that changed her destiny. At the age of seven, Joël Montigny discovered the power of color and plunged into painting, never to let go of his brushes. In the 1980s, the artist spent six months in England, where he invented the hot-wax pastel technique. In 1990, he moved to Paris, where he became a friend of the greats of our time. Dreaming of democratizing painting, he signs posters for shows, sporting events (Olympic Games 92) and record sleeves. A multi-talented artist, he swapped the brush for the microphone to record Rythme en Couleurs, released by Arcade in 1995. In 42 years, the portraitist to the stars has illustrated 60 books and written 13, including his latest, "Parfum des saisons", a poetic, introspective diary illustrated with 200 color pastels, in which the artist recounts his most beautiful encounters. He weaves a beautiful story of love and loyalty with the public. Dreaming of democratizing painting, and inspired by the actors and singers he rubs shoulders with, Montigny goes on a 6-month exhibition tour every year to meet the public. Montigny's major exhibitions have been highly publicized, such as "Noces Barbares" by Queffelec, "Couleurs pour l'Abbé Pierre", sponsored by Robert Hossein, "Duo pour une expo" with Hugues Aufray, "Fantasmagories de Fellini" at the Palais Royal and "Mémoire d'Enfance" at Paris City Hall. Montigny has appeared on numerous radio and television programs, and has been the subject of over a thousand articles.
