Exposition : Paysages d'eau du réel au rêvé
With around forty of her recent works, the Geneva-based artist of South American origin explores the theme of water in all its forms. The staging of ‘curiosity cabinets’ containing notes, sketches and objects collected from her everyday life evokes a resonance between tangible memories and creation. The artist breaks down the boundaries between sky and sea. In the blue, clouds mingle with waves, leaving the viewer uncertain as to where one begins and the other ends. This indeterminacy is a metaphor for life itself: an endless journey navigating between tranquillity and storm. Cécilia's aquatic world moves, vibrates, propels sounds, repetitive music, dancing light conducive to daydreaming. Does her subtle and effervescent imagination lead her, like all creators, to adhere to the obvious proposition ‘I am what I see’? Cécilia Maurice de Silva offers us a personal, metaphorical and sensual representation of the world. Her works, oscillating between the sky and the ocean, invite us to meditate and reflect on our existence and our connection to this vital element.
