Suzanne Goux Foray exhibition
Suzanne Goux-Foray was a French painter born in Souvigny-de-Touraine in 1907.
She trained at the Beaux-Arts d'Orléans, then completed her apprenticeship at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. These solid academic foundations marked her first works with a classical touch. Subsequent travels throughout Europe broadened her artistic horizons and influenced her palette. She finally settled in Lons-le-Saunier, in the Jura, which became one of her main sources of inspiration.
This Jura setting deeply influenced her work, and Suzanne Goux-Foray became "a great landscape painter from the Jura and the Ain", according to the critics of her day.
