The Château museum is entering its first major phase of transformation. We look forward to seeing you in December 2024 for the first major stage, with the reopening of the new history trail. In the meantime, the museum service is moving outside the walls with an outdoor exhibition.
2024 marks the centenary of the historic flight made by Étienne Œhmichen on 4 May 1924 at Arbouans: the world's first 1 kilometre loop flight by a helicopter. Take a stroll along the esplanade of the château and discover
the life and work of this inventive man with a passion for nature and technology.
How do you observe rapid movement? How does a helicopter fly?
How does an ichthyosaur swim? These are just some of the questions that Étienne Œhmichen asked himself, and which are explored in this open-air exhibition. Through seven panels covering subjects as diverse as observing movement, biomechanics and helicopter design, arouse your curiosity in line with that of this engineer.
