Guy Breniaux - Exhibition Studio Sale

-

Guy Breniaux, a multi-disciplinary artist from the Jura region, is celebrating his 80th birthday and 60 years devoted to painting with passion and constant research.
Born in Lons-le-Saunier in 1946, he discovered painting at the age of 13. Parallel to his professional career at the WTO, he continued his training at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Geneva. Throughout these 60 years, Guy Breniaux thought and lived painting as a necessity, painting daily without which "he would become hellish" he would say.
With his painting "Embryo of Peace", he won a competition launched by the UN in Geneva, for which the French Post Office published a postcard. Also printed in a limited edition, the work painted more than 40 years ago was distributed internationally. In the wake of this, Guy Breniaux was contacted again by the UN to create a painting to mark the 40th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, "The Right to Life".
Guy Breniaux's work has been auctioned at Drouot and exhibited in France, Switzerland, Greece and Hong Kong, but he has always remained a free man whose art has "nourished him spiritually".
Following a meeting between Isabelle Breniaux, the artist's daughter, and Olivier and Emma Journet, the idea of hanging the artist's paintings in Bletterans - in this unique and inspiring place bathed in the light so celebrated by the artist - was an obvious one. Guy Breniaux is also a master of the art of stained glass. Not to mention his love of words and fine wine, which he serves as a member of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin in Burgundy.
Today, his wife Jacqueline and his children Isabelle and François are keen to pay tribute to him with this exhibition. The selection explores 60 years of painting and oxido-engraving, a unique technique created by Guy Breniaux.
Guy Breniaux was unable to be present at the genesis of this project, as he was weakened by illness. But if memory fades, the imprint left by the artist remains intact.
