Situated in the foothills of the Jura mountains, the Château de Chevreaux is perched on a promontory 470 m above sea level. It was built as far back as 1158, and since then several families have succeeded one another. In 1637, the French army completely destroyed the site. The castle lay in ruins.

Since 1990, the Association des Amis de Chevreaux Châtel has been working with volunteers on international workcamps to renovate the site and bring it back to life.
The Château de Chevreaux is also the story of the incredible ongoing work of the Friends of Chevreaux Châtel to rebuild the site with the help of various archaeological and international work camps, as well as talented craftsmen: stone masons, ironworkers and blacksmiths.
