The goatherd is lucky: the plot of land on which he farms is spared from flooding.
Around this one plot, everything is drowned by rain, floods and tidal waves, and everything sinks inexorably into the ground. To hold on to his goat, which he knows will leave one day like all the others, the goatherd tries to convince people. He tells, suggests, preaches, proves, captivates... He manipulates to keep control, redoubling his eloquence, inventiveness and even poetry. He sets up a "game" that seems innocent; link by link, it becomes the chain that the goat wears around its neck.
This dangerous retelling of Alphonse Daudet's La Chèvre de Monsieur Seguin invites us to explore the relationships of domination and submission in a two-person relationship.

The Festival de caves is a festival of theatrical creation, of the production of shows imagined for one or two actors, in the underground space of the cellar. It's a place where audiences and performers come together to create original, intimate and generous projects.
Launched in Besançon almost 20 years ago, the festival has spread first to the surrounding countryside, then to other towns where it takes to the road and spreads out every year in late spring; and it's still growing, with the stubbornness of those seeds that germinate under a layer of earth, in the dust of the cellar.
dust of the cellar. It is spread over a large part of the country, both in the city and in the countryside, and it is from here that the uniqueness of its paths is strengthened; of the path - the voice - that it draws.
Since 2020, it has been coordinated by a collective of artists: actors, directors and/or writers. For the 2024 edition, the collective is made up of Paul Benrahho, Thomas Champeau, Régis Goudot, Anne-Laure Sanchez and Simon Vincent.
But the Festival de caves is also :
An active and committed association,
Loyal spectators and volunteers,
An 18-year history of encounters, with 81 artists, managers, guests and regular attendees,
Over 120 vineyard owners who welcome artists and open their cellars...
So many cultural enthusiasts who support the project and contribute to its development.
In close proximity, we unfold and share pieces of our worlds - those that inhabit us, that we create, that we love, that give us something to dream about and think about - with the 19 spectators. The cellar forms a delicate cocoon where, through the power of words, projected images and vibrant bodies, we deliver the poetry that moves us and tell the stories that touch us.
The 2024 edition is currently being drafted: four contemporary playwrights - Pauline Peyrade, Emmanuel Darley, Jean d'Amérique and Jean-René Lemoine - and three scripts for the festival featuring a comic book writer like Gérard Moncomble, a show for the general public about piracy, and a text combining music and theatre based on the themes of Mathieu Belezi's Attaquer la terre et le soleil. We'll also be showcasing the work of a young playwright, writing and performing.
We, the festival artists, along with our guests, are preparing a small collection of solos and duets. We're also getting ready to welcome the Premières Scènes: a programme of shows created by young local artists who are students or fresh out of training.
The Impromptus are artistic and festive evenings in the city of Besançon, opening up a whole new world of possibilities and creating draughts between the dark and intimate cellars and the outdoors, where natural light reminds us that it's good to be together.
