Presentation of the book Louis Pasteur, l'Artiste !

-

Philippe Bruniaux, President of the Pasteur Patrimoine Arboisien association, will be presenting his book Louis Pasteur, l'Artiste, published by Sekoya.

The book is prefaced by Professor Georges Mantion, a native of Arbois, a former student of the college and a member of the French National Academy of Medicine. Georges Mantion will be present at the event.

At the Collège d'Arbois, Pasteur studied humanities and regularly took drawing classes. The young Louis went on to sketch many of Arbois' leading figures: artistic skills that made him an established artist.

This presentation will also be an opportunity to present the author's next project, based on Pasteur's travels across Europe. Some previously unpublished souvenirs and other cinematic gems will no doubt surprise the audience!

The evening will continue with a book-signing session and a convivial moment. There will also be a sales table where participants can buy the book. (cheque or cash).
This conference is organised in partnership with the EPCC Terre de Louis Pasteur, the Collège Pasteur and its Headmistress and the association Pasteur patrimoine arboisien.
It takes place in advance of World Rabies Day. (the following day).

World Rabies Day, created in 2007 to commemorate the death on 28 September 1895 of Louis Pasteur, the discoverer of the rabies vaccine, is as important as ever, and a recent joint appeal by the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations), the OIE (World Organisation for Animal Health) and the WHO (World Health Organisation) is a reminder of the importance of the issue at a time when some 60,000 people die of rabies every year, the vast majority of them children bitten by infected dogs.
