Mosaïk
Creator-alchemist Mourad Merzouki transcends the aesthetic boundaries of hip-hop dance. Drawing on the vast artistic melting pot that is his repertoire, he shares his best-of with us, creating an admirable choreographic mosaic.
A founding figure of the hip-hop movement, choreographer Mourad Merzouki's work is at the crossroads of many disciplines: circus, martial arts, visual arts, video and live music. From boxing to classical music, he has opened up new horizons for dance. From one creation to the next, spectators are drawn into a new universe, always singular, poetic and visual. Mourad Merzouki's contribution to the development of hip-hop has given it a prominent place in the contemporary choreographic landscape, and he invites us to relive the highlights of his immense repertoire, those that have marked several generations of loyal audiences. With five flamboyant performers on stage, from Käfig (1996) to Folia (2024), including Zéphir, which was presented by Scènes du Jura in 2022, Mosaïk is a dip in the deep end of fond memories, a dance form that takes us back to our roots.
