POLAR PASSIONS, When dreams lead to the poles

-

Dreamed-of spaces, places of wonder and theatres of the imagination... The poles leave no one indifferent.

Some people, often very young, develop an exclusive passion for the polar regions. Fascinated by their landscapes and wildlife, or by heroic explorers, passions for the poles take many forms.

While the polar dream may be unattainable for those who live their love of the poles from a distance, some souls take the plunge and set off on an adventure to rub shoulders with the ice and wind. What is certain is that their encounter with the poles has turned their lives upside down. These passions leave their mark in the form of readings, memories and collections of all kinds.

Two names stand out as the originators of polar dreams: Jean-Baptiste Charcot and Paul-Émile Victor, the most illustrious French polar explorers. Through their charisma, their stories of expeditions and their desire to encourage young people to make their dreams come true, they have inspired and continue to inspire generations of polar dreamers.

This exhibition is dedicated to them and to all the other "polar people" who, through their passion, perpetuate in their own way the right to dream.

Admission to the exhibition is included in the museum ticket. Opening times and days are the same as those for the Espace des Mondes Polaires Paul-Émile Victor.
