Theatre Cie Bayadelle "Grosses!

"The Compagnie Bayadelle was created in 2021, around Sylvie Debras's project: to create a theatrical adaptation of Grosse!, a novel she wrote, published on 1 March 2022 (Éditions Modestime). Its subject is obesity, with a guideline that could be summed up as "You're not born fat, you become fat". The prevalence of obesity is rising rapidly, and now affects one person in six in France. Obesity is not only a tragedy for individuals, it is also a problem for society as a whole - through 'grossophobia' and the discrimination and harassment that result from what can only be described as the tyranny of appearance. Finally, it is a genuine public health problem, affecting a worrying proportion of teenagers and young adults.
