Théâtre Cie Coloquinte "La Cagnotte" by Eugène Labiche.
The Compagnie Coloquinte was formed in 2003 when a group of amateur actors got together around a common goal: to turn their passion for theatre into a means of discovery and dissemination.
"A friendly society of provincial notables, brought together on a fixed day for an eternal game of cards, decides after 1 year of playing to go and spend the accumulated winnings - La cagnotte - in Paris. But a mischievous twist of fate thwarts the trip. The "little gang" find themselves drawn from one misunderstanding to another in a chase that takes on the appearance of a waking nightmare... Labiche's satire of the provincial petty bourgeoisie depicts their greed. Vaudeville is a genre in itself, where the writing often leads us into a burlesque game involving an incredible sense of rhythm. So we approached this production from 3 angles: rhythm, body and voice, in order to achieve a certain virtuosity, approaching the text as a score where even the singing becomes part of the acting...".
