Yoko Kaneko studied at the Toho-gakuen in Tokyo. In 1987 she was awarded a scholarship by the French government to study piano at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris under Yvonne Loriod-Messiaen, and later chamber music under Michel Béroff and Jean Mouillère.
