La Maison du Haut

"It's no coincidence that the Maison du Haut bears this name. To reach the heights of the hamlet of Les Bordes, you'll have to cross the valley and its typical Revermont villages. At the end of a country lane, you'll arrive at the edge of the forest in front of a large yellow stone building surrounded by trees and greenery - a real haven of peace! Aurélie and Quentin warmly welcome hikers, riders and all nature lovers to their gîte d'étape, which also has a campsite where you can stay in a tent or in a small cabin with a breathtaking view over the valley. They took over the business in 2021, transforming the Maison du Haut into an eco-environment. Its philosophy is to live and welcome you while respecting the surrounding nature. A number of initiatives have been put in place: dry toilets, cooking with local produce, composters, solar panels to heat the water for the campsite showers, and even a solar oven that you can try out during your stay! Shared spaces are located in all four corners of the building and its grounds. In summer, make the most of the front terrace for a barbecue. In winter, gather round the fire in one of the fireplaces. And whatever the season, head to the inn's dining room for a bite to eat or to play one of the many board games. The setting is also ideal for moments of relaxation. The birdsong and the view over the valley will be conducive to relaxation and meditation. You can explore the surrounding area by following the GR59 footpath that passes right in front of the house. You'll be close to the remote Jura countryside, Poligny, the capital of Comté cheese, Château-Chalon, the capital of yellow wine, and Baume-les-Messieurs, both voted France's most beautiful villages. The Maison du Haut can also be hired for private events (birthdays, weddings, cousinades, etc.).
