La Villa Romaine
This 18th century manor house with its park and outbuildings is located in the centre of this pretty, quiet village in the north of the Jura, on the border with Burgundy. The main house offers 2 suites and a bedroom that take you back in time. Two gîtes are located in the garden with its century-old trees, an orchard, a small river that crosses the estate and a 19th century pond, which hides the remains of a Roman "villa". This "villa" gave its name to the old winegrowing village at the foot of Mont Guérin. During a hike you can still discover the remains of the Celts who lived there as early as 3500 B.C. A little further on, by bike, you can discover the valley of the Ognon, Pesmes - one of the most beautiful villages in France. Or you may prefer to drive to the historic towns of Dole, Dijon, Beaune, Besançon, and the vineyards of Burgundy and the Jura, which are three quarters of an hour away. Back at the estate, the hosts will be happy to show you these exceptional wines, also through a visit to the vaulted cellar.
