We have designed six gourmet road trips for you, from north to south of the Jura Mountains. Each trip will take you on a journey through a delicious part of the region, from the Jura vineyards to the Haut-Doubs and Bresse regions, and include three or four towns where you can stop off and treat your taste buds.

Comté cheese, cured meats and other iconic products, traditional dishes, Jura wines, farm produce, good restaurants... As you can see, each route will be an opportunity to eat well, but also to visit, meet people, chat and share!

All the answers to your questions about our gourmet road trips!

How do the gourmet road trips work?

These are suggested routes that you can follow at your own pace to explore a particularly delicious area of Jura Mountains. Along the way, you can sample:

  • famous specialities such as Comté cheese or Morteau sausage to discover or rediscover via visits to workshops, museums and production sites.
  • Discover the expertise of passionate producers who will be happy to show you their farms, workshops and facilities.
  • Jura wine via tastings and visits to estates.
  • restaurants, from traditional bistros to Michelin-starred establishments, this is your opportunity to see how our local chefs compete with each other with creativity and skill, both in the kitchen and on your plate.
What is the best mode of transport for these gourmet road trips?

Most routes are best explored by car. Each one includes 3 to 4 stopover towns. A true feast of flavors and gourmet discoveries, every stop is an opportunity to spend a few hours enjoying restaurants, shops, and places dedicated to gastronomy and wine.

It’s up to you to choose from the wide range of gourmet experiences we offer. Pick and choose as you like: a fine restaurant here, a vineyard there… Or why not stop by a local dairy or cheese cooperative to stock up on Comté, Morbier, and other regional specialties?

💡 Good to know: some routes can also be enjoyed without a car. Start your journey by train, then hop on a bike 🚲 for a gourmet getaway with low CO₂ emissions.

How long does it take to do a complete road trip?

It all depends how hungry or thirsty you are! Each route is designed to be a reasonable length and never exceeds two hours. The rest of the time? You are free to indulge in as many culinary experiences as possible or sample a few offerings while you wander.

One thing is certain: every route will take you through the charming landscapes of the Jura vineyards, the green pastures where our Montbéliarde cows graze, and along the peaceful banks of the Doubs River.

Can I link gourmet road trips together or just do part of a route?

It’s entirely up to you — everything is à la carte. You can even choose to focus only on the gourmet stopover towns if you prefer. Besançon, Dole, Poligny… many charming towns are waiting for you, each with its own specialties and must-see sites, such as La Maison du Comté in Poligny or the distilleries of Pontarlier.
