Loop of Montorient

-

Walk along the charming paths of the Lédonian hillsides overlooking the Bresse and the Sorne valley.

Take the footbridge over the Sorne and head towards the village centre.

At "Courbouzon", take the road to the right, climb the rue de Montorient (restored wash house) and leave the village.

At the post "Le Poirier", go up to the right along the hillside path. It leads to the "Grand Champ" ridge (view of the Sorne valley). At the top, turn left, cross the meadow, continue along the path and reach "Le Gouillat".

> Short variant (easy level, 2 h 30, 6 km, 200 m difference in height): at the post "Le Gouillat", go straight on and tackle the "Côte de Montorient". Pass "Le Trou du Renard" and climb to Montorient. After the farm, go down to the left at the "Mont Orient" post.

Turn right and keep the main road to "Gevingey Mairie". Take the rue du Château on the left and the rue de la Foulatière on the left. At "La Carrière", go straight on, then fork left. The track climbs in two wide bends and reaches "La Côte".

Continue along the track. It goes down towards Géruge. Take the street on the left, the street on the right, then the street of the chapel on the left ("Geruge Chapelle"). After the chapel, continue straight on the main street.
Take the road to Montorient on the left for 300 m, then the path on the right. It leads to the "Mont Orient" post (viewpoint on the Lédonian basin).

> On the left, access to the farm of Montorient (farm rehabilitated by the Friends of Mont Orientais).

Go down to the right, along the fence of the meadow for 30 m, then down the path to the left in the wood of acacias and ash trees (> follow the markings!) for 1.6 km.

At the intersection overlooking a pasture, go left towards the bottom of the combe du Goujon for 200 m, cross the small bridge and return towards Courbouzon. Go past the first house (on the bridge, turn around to see the waterfall), then return to the car park.
