A route along the water's edge and over the ridges with the viewpoint of the Croix de Châtard. From here, you can see the old Ropp pipe factory, the old village of Cour, Baume and its hills... The Doubs flows below, between the Fente de Babre and the rocks of Sous-Buen, forming the Gondé basin.
Departure from the car park at Place Jouffroy d'Abbans
Stage 1: Cross the red footbridge and walk along the canal.
Step 2: Cross the canal and take the canal quay towards Esnans.
Step 3: Take the path that climbs up behind the campsite and the Centre d'Affaires et de Rencontres until it crosses the D112 road.
Step 4: Follow part of the D112 until you reach a path on the left in the forest.
Step 5: At this junction, follow the signs for "Châtard par les crêtes".
Stage 6: After following this pretty ridge path, you'll come to a clear viewpoint over the Doubs valley and the town of Baume-les-Dames: the Roche de Châtard.
Stage 7: You are now facing the Croix de Châtard lookout, one of the highest viewpoints in the Baume hills.
Stage 8: After carefully descending the path, you will come to the D50 road. Be careful, you are on a bend in a very busy road, so be very careful when crossing.
Step 9: Cross the pipes bridge and turn left to pass the old Pipes Ropp factory.
Stage 10: Take the footbridge over the Cusancin and continue along the Doubs on Euro Vélo 6 towards Baume-les-Dames.
Stage 11: Pass under the blue bridge and join the passage over the canal and return to your starting point.
