The Babre Slit

STEP 1: From Place Jouffroy d'Abbans, take Rue du Moulin Vermoret towards the leisure area.
Cross the red footbridge and walk along the canal.

STEP 2: Cross the canal and immediately turn left onto the cycle route towards Montbéliard (the path passes under the blue bridge).

STEP 3: After crossing the Cusancin, take the Rue des Pipes past the old Ropp pipe factory. Then take the D19E road for 300 m towards Lomont-sur-Crête.
Take the gravel path on your left and follow it until it crosses the road. There is a small car park and a sign for "La Fente de Babre". Follow this sign.

STEP 4: At this point, take the ridge path to the left and continue to follow the yellow and blue markings. On your left, along the cliff face, you'll see a gap in the rock that corresponds to the Babre cleft.

STEP 5: A little further on, you'll have a fine view of the Doubs. Stop at the stele in the Babre wood and take the path on the right.

STEP 6: At the next junction, take the path along the fields and then back to your starting point.
