The Département du Doubs is developing a network of Sensitive Natural Areas: these areas are real showcases for the diversity of the département's natural environments. They are managed with a view to preserving biodiversity, and are also designed to welcome the public by opening them up and developing them in a sensible way.
The Etrabonne Sensitive Natural Area lies between the villages of Ougney and Burgille, overlooking the village of Etrabonne. The upper part is a mixture of vines, scrub and small woodland, while the south-facing slope supports the limestone lawn of the Etrabonne Sensitive Nature Area.
The Chaux lawn is partly overgrown with shrubs, and part of it is grazed by horses.
The Chaux Lawn trail in Etrabonne is open to visitors all year round.
The trail lasts around 1h - 1h30 and is suitable for families, so bring suitable walking shoes.
Follow the shepherd's star signs.
