Circuit de randonnée pedestre - le chemain de la republique

From the car park, head towards the Eurovélo6 via rue du Moulin Vermoret and follow the Doubs until you reach a recreation area on your right.

Cross the leisure area as far as Place Jean Ferrat, where you take the footpath around the car park. Continue as far as the pedestrian crossing on Rue de l'Helvétie.
Cross the road onto the footpath opposite, following the yellow and blue signs. Turn left up Rue de l'Helvétie, then at the roundabout, cross in front of the "centre-ville" sign and turn left in front of the Point-P sign, then go under the tunnel towards Chemin des Fruits.

You're about to take the discovery trail that will take you to the Arboretum, the magic forest and the quarry site at Baume-les-Dames. Follow this discovery trail through the magic forest and on to the junction with the route de Fontenotte, which you will take for a few metres, before taking another path on your right.

At the next junction, turn right. This path will take you through the forest. You will come across a wider, stony path, which you should take by turning right towards the arboretum. Admire the different species of trees and take the time to listen to the birdsong. The arboretum site is freely accessible.

Follow the "discovery trail" signs to the quarry site. Here you'll see ancient dry-stone enclosures and the remains of a former quarrying site.

This path forms a hairpin bend. A few metres further on, take the first turning on the left. Further on, take the path slightly to the left, which will take you to the St-Ligier farmhouse inn.

When you reach the main road, turn right for a few metres before turning right onto the Bannas path.

This will take you to Baume-les-Dames station. Pass under the tunnel and turn left onto Rue de Derrières les Murs as far as Rue du Château Gaillard, then follow Rue des Jardins and Rue de la Croix de Mission (yellow and blue signs).

Then cross the main road carefully to join a track opposite at the corner of the technical control. At the end of this path, you will come to rue de l'industrie, then right onto rue Camille Besançon, then rue des Vergers, then rue Mi- Cour where you will find your starting point.
